Images of Birds on Florida Keys

We recently spent a week on the Florida Keys and, while we were there, discovered the Florida Keys Wild Bird Center in Tavernia. They operate a wild bird hospital and a sanctuary.  The hospital treats and rehabilitates injured wild birds, and the sanctuary houses birds that are unable to return to the wild because of the injuries they sustained.  In large caged areas are varieties of raptors (hawks, owls, a falcon, vultures) as well as gulls, cormorants, and pelicans.

Adjacent to the sheltered areas is a shoreline that attracts countless numbers of wild birds.  The images that follow were photographed at that location.  Click on any image to enlarge it.
